i must have looked quite dumbfounded when she made that racist comment. i don’t know why i still allowed myself to be surprised by such small mindedness. for some reason when i step into a family event i assume since we’re all from the same background, that we view humanity in the same way. it wasn’t the worst thing i’ve ever heard, but her ignorance to how she sounded is what made the moment stand out.
